What is Community Acupuncture?
Ocean Acupuncture provides high quality acupuncture treatment at affordable rates in a supportive community setting. We practice a style of acupuncture which mostly uses “distal” points in the hands, feet, ear and head to treat problems anywhere in the body. Research in the United States (as well as thousands of years of tradition in Asia) has shown that acupuncture is most effective when it is done frequently and regularly – once a week is usually the minimum required to make progress on any kind of health problem, however some conditions improve faster with multiple treatments each week. We want to make it possible for you to receive acupuncture regularly enough and long enough to get better and stay better! We want to give you the tools to take care of your own health so that you will not need to rely on corporations like Big Insurance or Big Pharmaceuticals for costly, high-tech interventions. We will provide a safe environment with professional, compassionate and well trained practitioners.
What’s the atmosphere like?
Ocean Acupuncture was created and designed with the vision of providing a zen-like sanctuary to heal, feel inner peace and escape from the busy life that often leads to our chronic conditions. In our clinic we primarily use recliners, plus massage tables for back treatments, in a large, quiet, soothing space. Treating patients in a community setting has many benefits:
it’s easy for friends and family members to come in for treatment together
many patients find it comforting to be a part of a community
the power of intention and healing is very powerful when done in a group
I’m afraid of needles! Are their other options?
In some styles of acupuncture, the needles are removed after only a few minutes or after a half hour at most. The style of acupuncture we practice at Ocean Acupuncture allows patients to keep their needles in as long as they want. The “right” amount of time varies from patient to patient. Most people learn after a few treatments when they feel “done”; this can take from twenty minutes to a couple of hours! Many people fall asleep, and wake feeling refreshed.
I have back pain, how are you going to treat me if I’m sitting in a recliner?
Acupuncture meridian theory gives us the ability to access the entire body, including the back, using points in the extremities, hands, feet, scalp and ear. You will most likely be treated by placing tiny needles in your hands and/or ears.

How can you afford to charge $39.99 a treatment?
We provide a lower cost model by returning to a more traditional approach to acupuncture and community treatment. Instead of spending 15-20 minutes discussing your condition or updates, we spend a few minutes catching up and rely on our traditional diagnostic tools of pulse, tongue, channel diagnosis to decide how to treat you. Don’t worry, you’re not a number to us. We will spend 5-10 minutes discussing anything new, how you’re responding and making sure you feel comfortable before each treatment.
Do you accept insurance?
